– Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has activated goaltender Cam Ward
from injured reserve. The team also has reassigned goaltender Mike Murphy
to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Ward is eligible to play in tonight’s game against the Boston Bruins.
Ward suffered a lower-body injury 4:07 into the first period of the Hurricanes’ game on Oct. 24 in Minnesota. He missed 10 games with the injury.
Murphy, 24, is 1-2-0 with a 3.81 goals-against average in three games with Charlotte this season. The Kingston, Ont., native served as backup for 10 games, but did not appear in live action.
