RALEIGH, NC—The National Hockey League today named Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward its first star of the week for the period ending March 22. Ward posted a 3-0-0 record, a 2.33 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage in the Hurricanes’ three wins against New Jersey, the New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals.
This marks the third time this season Ward has been named one of the league’s three stars of the week. He received third-star honors for the week ending Jan. 4, and second-star honors for the week ending Jan. 25. In 61 games this season, Ward has posted a 33-22-5 record and currently ranks tied for third in the league in wins and tied for eighth in the league with five shutouts. He has started each of the Hurricanes’ last 21 games dating back to Feb. 7, and has posted a 13-6-2 record, a 2.45 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage in that span.
