RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the Calgary Flames have claimed defenseman Brett Carson from the Hurricanes on waivers.
Carson, 25, has played in 13 NHL games in 2010-11, earning a plus-7 rating and averaging 10:49 of ice time per game. In 38 AHL games this season with Charlotte, Carson (6’4”, 210 lbs.) has scored four goals, earned 16 assists (20 points) and registered a plus-12 plus/minus rating. The Regina, Sask., native has played in 72 career NHL regular-season games, scoring two goals and earning 10 assists (12 points). The Hurricanes drafted Carson in the fourth round, 109th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
