Battaglia Totals 20 Points through 25 Games

The Carolina Hurricanes today announced that forward Bates Battaglia was voted the Big Sky Beef Player of the Month as voted by the fans for month of November. At each home game, fans have the opportunity to vote for the player they feel has played the best in the past month. The ballot box is located at promotions table on the concourse. This is the first player of the month vote for this season since the team did not play many home games during October.

Battaglia, 23, who is in his third season with the Hurricanes, is off to the best start of his young NHL career with nine goals and 11 assists for a total of 20 points. His career best single season came last year when he totaled 18 points (7g, 11a) in 60 games. Battaglia has spent the first 25 games of the season alongside of Ron Francis and Sami Kapanen and has proved to be the team's’ top offensive line. The Battaglia-Francis-Kapanen line has generated 25 of the team’s 61 goals (41%) heading into tonight’s game with Toronto.

Battaglia will receive a gift certificate for a three-month supply of beef from Big Sky Beef, which he will donate to the Food Bank of North Carolina Kids Cafe.
