4th Annual Hurricanes Golf Classic To Be Held On Sept. 11

RALEIGH, NC (September 5, 2000) – The Carolina Hurricanes’ Fourth Annual Charity Golf Classic will take place on Monday, September 11, 2000, at TPC Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, North Carolina. Hurricanes players will be mixed among the sold-out field of golfers. Registration is at 11:00 a.m. and the shotgun start will commence at 12:00 noon. Last season, the golf tournament yielded over $45,000 for the Kids n’ Community Foundation. The general public is invited to come out and watch the tournament free of charge.

The Carolina Hurricanes’ Fourth Annual Charity Golf Classic kicks off on Sunday, September 10 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena with a pairings party beginning at 6:00 p.m. The evening will feature all 43 players participating in the Hurricanes 2000 Training Camp and includes a casual dinner and a live/silent auction containing unique sports memorabilia from around the country.

While the playing field is sold out, there are a limited amount of dinner tickets available at $75.00 by calling Heather Wyson at (919) 467-7825, ext. 5211.

The Classic’s title sponsors are Nortel Networks and Touchstone Energy, which will be presenting the $10,000 Power Putt for Cash. Hat trick sponsors are Rex Healthcare, BTI, and Interpath. Power play sponsors are Howard Perry and Walston, Storr Office Environments, and Home Team Sports.

Carolina plays its first preseason game in the Entertainment and Sports Arena on September 27, when the Hurricanes host the Washington Capitals at 7:00 p.m. The Hurricanes face the Atlanta Thrashers at the Entertainment and Sports Arena on September 30 at 7:00 p.m., before playing their final exhibition game on October 3 at Washington. Carolina opens the 2000-01 regular season on October 7 at 7:00 p.m., when the Hurricanes take on the Washington Capitals at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
