The 2022 IIHF World Championship in Finland is nearing elimination hockey as the three members of the Vegas Golden Knights competing in the tournament continue to push Team Canada toward its second consecutive gold medal.

Nicolas Roy, Zach Whitecloud and Logan Thompson were selected by Hockey Canada to compete in the annual event for the first time in each of their careers. Through five games in the preliminary round, they've helped Canada to a 4-1-0-0 record for second place in Group A. After defeating Kazakhstan, 6-3, on Thursday, the Canadians dropped a 6-3 decision to Switzerland on Saturday.
Roy has put up four points (1G, 3A) in three games so far in the tournament to rank tied for sixth on the team in scoring. He potted Canada's fourth goal in a 6-1 win against Italy last Sunday. Whitecloud hasn't registered a point but has a +1 rating from Canada's blueline.
Thompson has four starts for Canada and has a 3-1-0 record. He has a 3.00 goals-against average and an .881 save percentage.
Canada will take on Denmark on Monday before closing the round robin portion of the tournament against France on Tuesday.
