The Vegas Golden Knights picked up a 3-1 victory against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night at T-Mobile Arena in their penultimate home game of the 2018-19 regular season.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Cody Eakin opened the scoring late in the first period with an accurate wrist shot from the right wing. Jonathan Marchessault added to the lead just 51 seconds into the second period to make it 2-0 Vegas. A goal from Connor McDavid cut the Golden Knights' lead in half, but the home team carried the 2-1 lead into the third period. As Edmonton sought to tie the game, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare collected an empty-net goal to seal a 3-1 win for Vegas.
In the final minute, Edmonton went on the power play and pressed for an equalizer. Leon Draisaitl hammered a shot that deflected off both goal posts and stayed out of the net. The puck quickly went the other way and Bellemare netted the game's final goal.
Cody Eakin: Eakin added to his career-high goal total with his 22nd tally of the year.
Jonathan Marchessault: Marchessault's 25th goal of the campaign stood as the game-winning goal.
Malcolm Subban: Subban made 18 saves in the game for Vegas as he notched his eighth win of the season.
STAT OF THE GAME
Bellemare led Vegas in blocked shots on the night with four blocks.
