The Vegas Golden Knights (31-22-8) improved to 3-0-0 through three games of a five-game homestand as they defeated the Washington Capitals (37-17-5), 3-2, on Monday afternoon at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Nick Holden kicked off the scoring with his fifth goal of the season just 3:43 into the game to get Vegas on the board first. Reilly Smith connected late in the first period and the Golden Knights took the 2-0 lead into the intermission. Max Pacioretty added to the lead in the middle frame as the home team led by three heading into the final 20 minutes. In the third, T.J. Oshie scored twice for the Capitals, but Vegas held on for the 3-2 win.

TOP PERFORMERS
Reilly Smith: Smith scored for the second game in a row to bring his season goal total to 23.
Nick Holden: Holden had one goal on four shots in 23:58 of ice time.
Max Pacioretty: Pacioretty's team-lead in goals grew as he scored his 27th of the year.
T.J. Oshie: Oshie breathed life into Washington with two late goals.
