The Vegas Golden Knights (36-13-2) were defeated by the Minnesota Wild (33-14-4), 6-5, on Monday night at Xcel Energy Center.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Minnesota tallied the first goal of the evening to take the 1-0 lead. Shea Theodore answered right back to knot the game at one apiece. Alec Martinez went top shelf on a powerplay opportunity to put Vegas on top 2-1 before Nick Bonino tied the game 2-2 on a rebound goal. Alex Tuch beat Cam Talbot to place Vegas back on top 3-2 to end the first period. In the second frame Mark Stone went glove side to extend the lead to 4-2. Nick Bonino capitalized on a power play to cut the Vegas lead to 4-3. Late in the second, Marchessault regained the two-goal lead for Vegas. In the final frame Minnesota scored three times to win the contest 6-5.
