Piping Put In Place For Vegas Practice Facility To Maintain Ice

Slowly, but surely, the Golden Knights' practice facility's construction has been progressing.

Actually, their progress isn't even that slow.

Since breaking ground on October 5, the construction of the Summerlin facility is being completed at a dizzying rate.

A week after placing he final beam atop the facility's roof, the crew has laid down the piping that will allow the building to maintain its ice surface.

Practice Facility Roof Construction Reaches Completion

The Golden Knights' practice facility construction passed an important milestone on Friday

On April 21, 2017, the Golden Knights celebrated the placing of the final beam atop the roof of the team's practice facility.

The facility, which will be located in suburban Summerlin, will feature two NHL sized ice sheets that will host not only Golden Knights and occasional visiting team practices, but also recreational hockey throughout the region.

The facility is intended to be open at the start of the Golden Knights' training camp this September.

Golden Knights Hosting Topping Off Party At Team's Practice Facility

VEGAS (April 19, 2017) - The Vegas Golden Knights and Gillett Construction will hold a "topping off ceremony" on Friday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the last beam being placed atop the Golden Knights future practice facility. The event is open to media for photo and video opportunities. Vegas Golden Knights Senior Vice President Murray Craven, General Manager of the Golden Knights practice facility Brad Sholl and President/CEO of Gillett Construction Darren Gillett are expected to be available for interviews at the event. Please note this event is closed to the public.

Episode 3 of Behind The Vegas Ice To Air Feb. 15

The episode airs 8:00 PM PST on Cox 96 & 1096; viewing party at Findlay Toyota at 6:00 PM PST

Las Vegas, Feb. 13, 2017 - Episode 3 of Behind the Vegas Ice will air Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. PST exclusively on Cox Channel 96 and Cox Channel 1096 in HD. It will also be offered live online in the Las Vegas area at Titled "Scouting, Planning and Building," Episode 3 is part of a 10-episode docu-drama that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Vegas Golden Knights, an NHL expansion team based in Las Vegas, Nev. Watch the preview of Episode 3 here.

PHOTOS: Vegas Practice Facility Construction Update

The two ice sheet facility will be for both NHL and public uses

It's been more than three months since ground was broken on the Golden Knights' future practice facility.

Situated in suburban Summerlin, the facility will feature two NHL-sized ice sheets, and will be a hub for youth and adult hockey in Southern Nevada.

Three months into the process, we toured the facility for an update on construction.

Practice Facility Construction Gaining Steam

Vegas is not a city known for its peace and quiet.

So in a winter that T-Mobile Arena has sat quiet from a hockey standpoint, it's been uncharacteristic for a city more associated with continuous activity.

But while T-Mobile Arena sits without hockey until the Golden Knights' debut this fall, hockey activity hasn't slowed 15 miles west in suburban Summerlin. It's there that after breaking ground on October 5, construction is underway to build a state-of-the-art practice facility for the Golden Knights.
