Vegas Golden Knights skaters Mark Stone, Jonathan Marchessault and Shea Theodore will join Team Canada for the 2019 IIHF Men's World Championship in Slovakia beginning May 10. Each player is playing in the Men's World Championship for the first time in his respective career.
Stone last represented Canada at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship where he recorded 10 points (7G, 3A) in six games en route to a bronze medal. In 18 games with the Golden Knights in the regular season, Stone posted 11 points (5G, 6A) to go with the 62 points (28G, 34A) he had recorded in 59 games with the Ottawa Senators. Stone had 12 points (6G, 6A) in seven playoff games for Vegas.
Marchessault will represent Team Canada for the first time in his career. He led the Golden Knights with 59 points (25G, 34A) during the regular season and had six points (4G, 2A) in the playoffs.
Theodore will look to bring his gold-medal experience to Canada for the World Championships. He won gold at the IIHF Men's Under-18 World Championship in 2013 and captured gold again at World Juniors in 2015. Theodore posted career-highs in goals (12), assists (25) and points (37) during the regular season and added eight points (1G, 7A) during the postseason.
