RELATED: Important Expansion Draft-related times to remember this weekend

Saturday, 12:00 PM (PT)
As the 12:00 hour arrived in Las Vegas on Saturday, the chain of events that will lead up to Wednesday's Expansion Draft officially begun.
The most important thing that went into effect was the beginning of a trade/waiver freeze for all NHL teams, except the Golden Knights. This means that teams will no longer be able to make any player transactions, unless it's in a deal with the Golden Knights, until after the Expansion Draft.
This freeze's purpose is to keep other teams' rosters as they currently are for a few days, so there won't be any additional moving parts between when the Golden Knights receive other teams' protected lists on Sunday and when Vegas announces its choices on Wednesday.
Beginning Sunday, however, teams will be able to make deals with the Golden Knights, especially as Vegas receives other teams' lists and other teams may covet players from other rosters.
The freeze will be in effect until 5:00 AM (PT) on Thursday, June 23.
The next important deadline of the weekend will come at 2:00 PT, when the other 30 teams submit their protected lists to the Central Registry and the NHLPA.
