The Vegas Golden Knights will celebrate Fan Appreciation Night during their final home game of the regular season as they take on the Arizona Coyotes at 7 p.m. Thursday at T-Mobile Arena. Tune in to AT&T SportsNet, FOX Sports Radio 98.9/1340 and ESPN Deportes 1460 for the action.
Following the game, the team will announce the winners of its three regular season awards. The First Star Award will go to the player with the highest number of appearances in the postgame three stars at home games. The Vegas Strong Service Award will go to the player who did the most to serve the community during the season. The Seventh Player Award was decided by a fan vote and the winner will be revealed Thursday. Cody Eakin, Jon Merrill, Brandon Pirri and Ryan Reaves are up for the honor.
Select fans will participate in the "Jerseys Off Our Backs" festivities after the game. Those fans will be randomly assigned a VGK player and will receive that player's jersey immediately after the game.
Thursday's game is the final home game of the regular season for the Golden Knights. They've compiled a record of 24-11-5 at T-Mobile Arena this season.
LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Knights corrected a five-game losing streak Monday night when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 3-1, at T-Mobile Arena. Goals from Cody Eakin, Jonathan Marchessault and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare lifted Vegas to the win.
Vegas defeated Arizona in both of their first two matchups this season at Gila River Arena. Max Pacioretty scored in overtime on Nov. 21 to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 win. The Golden Knights closed out the month of December with a 5-1 win against the Coyotes on Dec. 30. Arizona picked up a 5-2 win in the last contest between the Pacific Division foes on Feb. 12.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Arizona is trying to scratch and claw its way into the playoffs and needs everything to come together in the final two games of the season. The Coyotes need some help to get into the postseason and their late bid is riding on a win against Vegas. Arizona has 84 points and an overall record of 38-33-8.
Clayton Keller is the team leader in scoring with 46 points (14G, 32A) with Oliver Ekman-Larsson (44 points) and Alex Galchenyuk (40 points) not far behind. Goalie Darcy Kuemper has registered two shutouts in his last four games.
A VEGAS VICTORY WOULD...
- Give the Golden Knights 95 all-time wins
- Be the 25th win at T-Mobile Arena for the Golden Knights this season
- Eliminate Arizona from playoff contention
KEYS TO THE GAME
Details Details Details: It'd be easy for the Golden Knights to overlook Thursday's game because it has no impact on their final standing in the Pacific Division. Vegas has to treat the game like a playoff game in order to get into form when the postseason begins next week.
