The big picture implications are obvious but the trick is to live in the moment. The smallest of moments such as shift to shift.
A win tonight and the Vegas Golden Knights will own a 3-1 series lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference Final. A loss and it's 2-2 with the series heading back to Winnipeg and all that comes with playing the Jets in their building.
For the lower seed - the clearest path for success is no secret: Steal one in the opponent's building and then hold serve at home.
So far, so good for the Golden Knights and they hold a 2-1 lead in the series heading into Game 4 at T-Mobile Arena.
But a win or a loss tonight won't define the series. It's a series and can't be won or lost in one game.

"It's what Turk (head coach Gerard Gallant) has preached to us all year," said defenseman Shea Theodore. "It's about one game. It's about getting a good start and not looking past that."
Winger Alex Tuch says the focus has to be very narrow at this time of the year.
"You can't look back and you can't look forward. The first five minutes of the game are all we can control right now," said Tuch. "Then it's about every shift. We need to try and win every shift."
Gallant said there was a possibility veteran winger David Perron would return to the lineup for Game 4. Perron missed Game 2 and 3 due to illness but has been skating with the group the last few days.
WITH A WIN TONIGHT…
-The Golden Knights would own a 3-1 lead in the series against Winnipeg.
-Vegas would collect its 11th overall win during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, giving the Golden Knights the most victories during the postseason.
-Vegas would collect its sixth win on home ice, giving the Golden Knights the most home victories in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

UPCOMING MILESTONES
-Reilly Smith needs one assist to record the most assists by a player in his team's first postseason appearance.
-Jonathan Marchessault needs one point to tie the NHL record for the most points by a player in his club's first postseason appearance and needs two goals to tie the NHL record for the most by a player in his club's first postseason appearance.
NOTES
Best Postseason Start in League History
Vegas started with an 8-2 record through its first 10 playoff games - the best record through a franchise's first 10 postseason contests in NHL history. Only two other clubs have required fewer than 14 games to record their eighth all-time playoff win: Florida needed 11 games to win each of their first two series en route to an appearance in the 1996 Stanley Cup Final and Buffalo won eight of their first 13 playoff games from 1973 to 1975.
Fleury (Still) In Fine Form During Stanley Cup Playoffs
Marc-Andre Fleury made multiple spectacular saves in a 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 3. He stopped 33 shots en route to his 72nd postseason victory, which puts him in sole possession for ninth all-time. Fleury has had the best postseason numbers of his career, boasting a goals-against average of 1.70 and a save percentage of .945. Overall he has made 412 saves on 436 shots in 13 postseason games this year. He has recorded 14 career postseason shutouts and moved into a tie for sixth place on the NHL's all-time postseason shutouts list. The Sorel, Quebec native is the first goaltender to record four shutouts in a single postseason since 2011, when Vancouver's Roberto Luongo and Boston's Tim Thomas each registered four. Fleury has a 10-3 record during the postseason and started the and playoffs with a five-game winning streak. It was his third win streak of at least five games within a playoff year. The others came with the Penguins en route to appearances in the Stanley Cup Final: 7-0 in 2008 and 5-0 in 2009.
Marchessault Marching Through The Postseason
Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals again in Game 3 against the Winnipeg Jets and leads all Golden Knights players with 17 points (8G, 9A) this postseason. Marchessault's first goal came 35 seconds into the contest and his second with 2.7 seconds remaining in regulation. He became the first player in NHL history to score a goal in both the first and last minute of the same playoff game. Following Game 2 against the Jets, Marchessault became the 10th player in NHL history to collect at least 15 points in his club's first trip to the playoffs.
Smith Keeps On Dishing
Reilly Smith, who finished the regular season with 38 assists, collected the primary assist on both of Jonathan Marchessault's goals in Game 2 against the Winnipeg Jets to boost his postseason totals to 14 points (1G, 13A) in 12 GP. He matched the NHL record for the most assists by a player in his team's first postseason appearance, set by Igor Larionov (5-13-18) in 1994 with San Jose.
