HOW IT WENT DOWN
In the opening period, Vladislav Namestnikov got things started for the Lightning for the 1-0 lead. Seven second later, Brett Howden tied the game at 1-1. Steven Stamkos then regained the lead for the Lightning, 2-1, less than one minute later. Jonathan Marchessault then found the back of the net and knotted the game at 2-2. Five minutes later, Shea Theodore put Vegas ahead 3-2, beating Andrei Vasilevskiy with a snap shot. With less than three minutes remaining in the period, Marchessault put up his second goal of the night to give the Golden Knights a 4-2 edge. In the middle frame, Corey Perry potted a goal to bring the Lightning within one. With one minute remaining in the third period, Nicolas Roy recorded the empty net goal for Vegas, extending the lead to 5-3. About one minute later, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored for Tampa for a final score of 5-4.
