VEGAS (February 6, 2019) - February is National Library Lovers' Month, and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is celebrating with an exciting announcement - a new partnership with the Vegas Golden Knights organization. The partnership kicks off with the launch of a special new show of pride that both fans of the library AND our hometown hockey heroes alike will want to own - the new Vegas Golden Knights "Vegas Born" Library Card.
Beginning on Wednesday, February 6, Clark County residents can claim their very own Vegas Golden Knights library card at any Las Vegas-Clark County Library District branch. New cardholders can start the sign-up process online at LVCCLD.org, or at their nearest Library District branch, where they must present a photo I.D. and proof of address, such as a utility bill, to obtain the card. Current cardholders who wish to trade in their existing card may do so at their nearest Library District branch.
This exciting new card design shows off the team's traditional black and gold colors, with their official team slogan, "Vegas Born," featured prominently on the front.

"National Library Lovers' Month celebrates the role that libraries play in society," explained Dr. Ronald R. Heezen, executive director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. "The free resources and services that we provide put education, technology, and the arts within the reach of every neighborhood surrounding our 25 branches. Promoting literacy and learning is a mission that we share with the Vegas Golden Knights, and we are thrilled to partner with them."
"The Golden Knights are extremely excited to partner with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District in announcing new Vegas Born library cards," said Vegas Golden Knights Chief Marketing OfficerBrian Killingsworth. "We strongly value literacy and education, so we are proud to support the library in the great work they do in providing free educational resources to the Clark County community."
Dr. Heezen encourages residents to visit the Library District website at LVCCLD.org to learn more. Fans can even explore Vegas Golden Knights Mascot Chance the Gila Monster's reading/watching/listening blog, which will spotlight his favorite books, movies, and music each month.
"A library card is a powerful tool to help you pursue your goals, connect with your community, and unlock your full potential," Dr. Heezen said. "We hope that Vegas Golden Knights fans who haven't thought about the library since their childhood will use their new card as an all access pass to enjoy free downloadable movies, music, digital magazines, audiobooks, live performances, and so much more."
The partnership with the Vegas Golden Knights is just one of several exciting announcements coming to the Library District in 2019, including the launch of the Library District's East Las Vegas branch in April. For more information, call (702) 734-READ, visit
