We're now only days away from the Expansion Draft, where the Golden Knights will build a majority of their inaugural roster by selecting one player from each of the NHL's other 30 teams.
June 21, when the Expansion Draft is held in conjunction with the NHL Awards at T-Mobile Arena, isn't the only date that is important to know.

The Saturday and Sunday before the Expansion Draft, June 17 and June 18, are also part of the process.
NHL Public Relations released the following information on Friday as it pertains to the timeline for Saturday and Sunday's important times to remember.
Most of this information is related to deadlines of how other teams maneuver themselves prior to the Expansion Draft, and as to when the Golden Knights receive different pieces of information.

Saturday, June 17 (12:00 PM, Pacific Time)
-It's the start of the trade/waiver freeze time for all NHL teams, except the Golden Knights. This means that other teams cannot be making transactions beginning at this time, through the end of the Expansion Draft.
-It's the beginning of a signing moratorium on NHL Standard Player Contracts for all NHL clubs, except the Golden Knights.

Saturday, June 17 (2:00 PM, Pacific Time)
-The deadline for the NHL other 30 teams (other than the Golden Knights) to simultaneously release their protection lists to the Central Registry and NHLPA.
Sunday, June 18 (7:00 AM, Pacific Time)
-The deadline for when the Central Registry has to approve and distribute the protection lists to the Golden Knights, as well as the NHL's other teams and the NHLPA. These lists will also be available to the public.
-Opening of the negotiation period for both restricted and unrestricted free agents for the Golden Knights (and only the Golden Knights) with players who are eligible for selection in the Expansion Draft.
Wednesday, June 21 (4:30 PM, Pacific Time)
Beginning of the Expansion Draft and NHL Awards from T-Mobile Arena. This will be televised on NBCSN in the United States and Rogers Sportsnet in Canada.
