VEGAS (May 19, 2022) -The Vegas Golden Knights announced today, May 19, that a Henderson, Nevada teacher has been recognized as the 2022 NHL/NHLPA Future Goals Most Valuable Teacher presented by SAP. The contest was hosted by the NHL, NHLPA and EVERFI from January through March of 2022 and celebrates everyday heroes in the classroom.

Carolyn Avery, a sixth grade science teacher at Bob Miller Middle School in Henderson, won the award for her diligent work and consistent leadership shown to students. Avery was previously chosen as February's NHL/NHLPA Future Goals Most Valuable Teacher presented by SAP over 19 other nominees from across the United States and Canada.
Members of the Golden Knights organization surprised Avery on Thursday morning at Bob Miller Middle School with a custom jersey, special giveaways for students, and a pair of tickets to a home game at T-Mobile Arena during the 2022-23 NHL season. Avery will also be recognized with a special in-arena moment during the game. In addition, presenting sponsor, and NHL and NHLPA partner, SAP donated $20,000 to Avery's district - Clark County School District - to be used toward Environmental Sustainability Resources.
