The Vegas Golden Knights fell to the Washington Capitals, 5-2, on Saturday night at Capital One Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Capitals opened the scoring early in the first period as they claimed a quick 2-0 lead. At the 8:57 mark, Max Pacioretty collected a loose puck off an offensive zone faceoff and snuck it through Braden Holtby to get the Golden Knights on the board. After the Capitals took a 3-1 lead in the second period, Reilly Smith buried his 10th goal of the season to make it a one-goal hockey game once again. In the final frame, Nicklas Backstrom scored two goals to lead Washington to the 5-2 win.
