The Vegas Golden Knights (9-8-3) were topped by the Chicago Blackhawks (7-7-4), 5-3, on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Golden Knights opened the scoring when William Carrier tipped-in his third goal of the season. William Karlsson added to the early lead with his fifth goal of the campaign before Patrick Kane got the visitors on the board to make it a 2-1 game. In the second period, Calvin de Haan and Erik Gustafsson scored to put Chicago ahead, 3-2. Kirby Dach and Dylan Strome scored in the final frame for the Blackhawks and, despite a late goal from Nate Schmidt, the visitors left with a 5-3 victory.

TURNING POINT
Jonathan Marchessault was awarded a penalty shot during the second period after the Blackhawks had taken a 3-2 lead. The puck jumped on Marchessault at the last second forcing his shot to go wide. The would-be game-tying attempt was as close as Vegas would come in the 5-3 defeat.
