The Vegas Golden Knights fell in overtime, 5-4, in Game 7 of their first round series to the San Jose Sharks. Vegas lost the series, 4-3.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
William Karlsson opened the scoring in Game 7 when he shoveled in a loose puck in front of the San Jose net to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead. Vegas carried that lead into the intermission despite trailing the Sharks in shots, 11-4. Midway through the second, Cody Eakin redirected a shot from Brayden McNabb through Martin Jones to give Vegas a 2-0 edge. The Golden Knights received a goal from Max Pacioretty early in the third period to extend the advantage to 3-0. The Sharks took advantage of a five-minute power play midway through the third and scored four times to take a 4-3 lead. Jonathan Marchessault tied the game with less than one minute to play and the teams went into overtime level at 4-4. Barclay Goodrow potted the overtime-winner to send the Sharks to the second round.
