There are a handful of stats from the Vegas Golden Knights' pair of season-opening wins that stand out as signs of strong individual and team play.
While the group would point to the four points they've accrued in the standings as the most important figures through 120 minutes of the season, some of the other statistics that they've put up are worth a deeper look.
2- The Golden Knights allowed just two goals total during the first pair of contests with the Sharks. There have also been two VGK players who made their NHL debuts this year in Cody Glass and Nic Hague.
3- In just two games, the Golden Knights have scored three shorthanded goals. After Reilly Smith potted a shorthanded tally Wednesday night, Brayden McNabb and Tomas Nosek each scored during penalty kills on Friday. Vegas scored 11 shorthanded goals in 2019-20.
5- No. 5 Deryk Engelland leads the club with five blocked shots.
11- Ryan Reaves leads the NHL in hits with 14 hits through two games.
55- Marc-Andre Fleury has stopped 55 of the 57 shots that have been flung his way in the young season. He's allowed just one goal in each game so far in 2019-20.
100- Vegas has killed 100 percent of penalties they've taken through two games this year. The Golden Knights took five penalties in each game against San Jose but successfully kept the Sharks off the scoresheet on all of those chances.
800- Fleury appeared in his 800th game Friday night in San Jose. The win marked his 441st victory in the NHL.
