The Vegas Golden Knights open the 2020-21 season on Jan. 14 as the NHL returns to the ice for a 56-game regular season.
It's not until Feb. 5 that Vegas will square off with the Los Angeles Kings as the familiar Pacific Division foes meet in the West Division for the first time. The Golden Knights and Kings have established a deep history in just three seasons.

When the puck drops between Vegas and Los Angeles on Feb. 5, here are the numbers we'll have our eyes on.
1- Alec Martinez scored one goal in the VGK-LAK head-to-head series last season. That goal came as a member of the Kings.
5-William Karlsson is the all-time leading goal scorer for the Golden Knights in contests against the Kings with five goals.
5- Karlsson and Mark Stone tied for the team lead in takeaways against the Kings with five each.
5- Anze Kopitar (2G, 3A) and Adrian Kempe (2G, 3A) each had five points against Vegas last season.
6- Max Pacioretty had a team-high six points (3G, 3A) in four games against Los Angeles in 2019-20.
8- Reilly Smith has a +8 rating in his 12 games against LA.
10- Smith has notched a franchise-high 10 points (4G, 6A) since 2017 against Los Angeles.
16- Pacioretty lead the VGK with 16 shots in four games against the Kings in 2019-20.
21- To the surprise of few, Ryan Reaves led the Golden Knights in hits on LA players in 2019-20 with 21.
23:42- Shea Theodore averaged 23:42 of ice time in four contests against LA last season.
62-Kopitar was the leading scorer for Los Angeles in 2019-20 with 62 points (21G, 41A) in 70 games.
