(Philadelphia, PA) - The National Hockey League regularly surveys its players on the quality of ice. The Wachovia Center ice currently ranks third among the 30 NHL clubs. It's significant to note the top two teams (Edmonton and Detroit) are single-team arenas and they do not host the amount of events as the Wachovia Center does.
The Wachovia Center is coming off its second quick-change Saturday in a row.
"We take a lot of pride in how we maintain and treat our ice," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "It's wonderful to be recognized by the players for having one of the best ice surfaces, especially with the amount of other events in the Wachovia Center.
"There are many nights when we're going back-and-forth between hockey and basketball which neither Edmonton nor Detroit do," added Luukko. "This is a true testament to the hard-working dedicated staff who works tirelessly to make the game-day experience so special for our fans and our players."
