by PhiladelphiaFlyers.com @NHLFlyers

After eight-plus seasons and 617 regular season games, the Philadelphia tenure of 35-year-old original Flyer and former team captain Ed Van Impe comes to an end. The Flyers trade the aging defenseman along with backup goaltender Bobby Taylor to the Pittsburgh Penguins for backup goaltender Gary Inness and four late-round (eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th rounds) draft picks in the 1977 NHL Draft.

The most notable of the players the Flyers subsequently choose with the picks acquired from Pittsburgh is goaltender Pete Peeters, selected in the eighth round.

Van Impe, a member of two Stanley Cup championship teams as a Flyer and a member of the Flyers' Hall of Fame, spent the remainder of the 1975-76 season with Pittsburgh and then appeared in 10 games with the Penguins the next season before retiring.
