May 14, 1987...Flyers Defeat Montreal, 4-3

On this date in 1987, the Flyers defeated the Canadiens in Montreal, 4-3, in Game Six of the Wales Conference Finals. With the win, the Flyers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Canadiens built a 3-1 second-period on goals by Mike McPhee, Larry Robinson and Bobby Smith. The Flyers responded by tying the score at 3-3 on goals by Ilkka Sinisalo and Scott Mellanby.

Rick Tocchet scored a goal at 7:11 of the third period to give the Flyers a 4-3 lead. Flyers goaltender Ron Hextall stopped all eight shots faced in the third period to secure the win for the Flyers.

Doug Crossman and Brian Propp each posted two assists in the contest for the Flyers.
