Two of Simon Nolet's three hat tricks as a Flyer occurred on March 7 (1970 and 1974).
On this date in 1974, the Flyers defeated the Detroit Red Wings at the Spectrum, 6-1.

The Flyers scored the first four goals of the game and led 4-1 after two period of play. Flyers goals were scored by Bill Barber, Simon Nolet, Ross Lonsberry and Rick MacLeish.

Simon Nolet would score two third-period goals to make the final score 6-1 and to post his third hat trick as a Flyer.

In the game, center Bill Clement attempted the first penalty shot in Flyers history. His attempt was stopped by Detroit goaltender Jim Rutherford.
