March 16, 1989...Tocchet Scores Again

                 Rick Tocchet
On this date in 1989, Rick Tocchet's third-period goal against the St. Louis Blues at the Spectrum was his 40th goal of the season. He became just the eighth player in Flyers history to reach the 40-goal mark in the Flyers' 4-3 overtime loss to the Blues.

By scoring a goal in the game, he extended his goal scoring streak to seven games. He would score at least a goal in the next two games to set a new team record for longest goal streak at nine games (March 1 through 19).

Prior to the game, Keith Allen, Bill Barber and Ed Snider became the third, fourth and fifth members of the Flyers Hall of Fame.
