June 25, 2000...Flyers Select Six Players In Second Day Of Draft

Roman Cechmanek and Robert Esche shared the William M. Jennings Trophy for the 2002-03 season (tied with Martin Brodeur).
On this date in 2000, the Flyers selected six players in the second day of the NHL Entry Draft (Rounds Four through Nine).

In the sixth round (171st overall), the team drafted goaltender Roman Cechmanek. During his rookie season of 2000-01, Cechmanek compiled a 35-15-6 record, 2.01 goals-against average and 10 shutouts in 59 regular season games. Following the season, Cechmanek was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team.

In three seasons with the Flyers (2000-01 through 2002-03), Cechmanek posted a 92-43-22 record, 1.96 GAA and 20 shutouts in 163 regular season games. His 1.96 career GAA as a Flyer is the best among goaltenders who played 50 or more games. He is second on the Flyers All-Time List in shutouts with 20.
