In the sixth round (171st overall), the team drafted goaltender Roman Cechmanek. During his rookie season of 2000-01, Cechmanek compiled a 35-15-6 record, 2.01 goals-against average and 10 shutouts in 59 regular season games. Following the season, Cechmanek was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team.
In three seasons with the Flyers (2000-01 through 2002-03), Cechmanek posted a 92-43-22 record, 1.96 GAA and 20 shutouts in 163 regular season games. His 1.96 career GAA as a Flyer is the best among goaltenders who played 50 or more games. He is second on the Flyers All-Time List in shutouts with 20.
