June 14, 1969...Flyers Defenseman Eric Desjardins' Birthday

Eric Desjardins was only the second defenseman ever to be named Flyers captain (also Ed Van Impe).
On this date in 1969, Flyers defenseman Eric Desjardins was born in Rouyn, Quebec.

In 10 seasons with the Flyers (1994-95 through 2003-04), Desjardins has recorded 89 goals and 283 assists for 372 points and 350 penalty minutes in 693 regular season games. He is second in points among defensemen on the Flyers All-Time List and is ninth in games played on the Flyers All-Time List. Desjardins has won a record seven Barry Ashbee Trophies as the most outstanding Flyers defenseman (1994-95 through 1999-2000 and 2002-03). He was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team following the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons.

Desjardins also served three seasons (1999-2000 to 2001-02) as Flyers captain. He was the 11th player in team history to be named captain.
