On this date in 1982, Ron Sutter scored his first NHL goal in the Flyers' 4-1 win against the Quebec Nordiques at the Spectrum.
Sutter played 10 games for the Flyers during the 1982-83 season, posting a goal and an assist, before he was assigned to Lethbridge of the Western Hockey League for the remainder of the season.
In nine seasons with the Flyers (1982-83 through 1990-91), Sutter recorded 137 goals and 223 assists for 360 points and 854 penalty minutes in 555 regular season games. He was the eighth captain in Flyers history, holding the position after Dave Poulin was traded during the 1989-90 season until his trade to the St. Louis Blues on September 22, 1991.
