John Stevens and his son are participating in a 5-K race on Saturday, May 16.
“My wife, Stacy, and I are helping out with a 5-k race at JFK and Promenade in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. The race is called ‘Peyton’s Promise,’ named after Peyton Laricks, a one-year-old girl who was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is a disorder that when a baby is born the diaphragm does not fully form, allowing abdominal organs to enter the chest cavity preventing proper lung growth. Peyton is doing great. The family is trying to raise awareness so my son John and I are going to drive down to participate and race.
“This is the first time they are holding this event and we love to run. We figured we would go down and participate and help out any way we can. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the CDH research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where Peyton spent a lot of time. For more information, please log onto peytonlaricks.blogspot.com.”
Stevens and his family are friends with Peyton’s parents, Dusty and Debbie Laricks.
