Shelley To Have Surgery

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
Things didn’t look too pleasant for Flyers enforcer Jody Shelley yesterday after a puck accidentally struck him. The puck hit him below his left eye.

Today we know why.

Shelley will undergo surgery on Thursday on his orbital bone around his left eye. He is expected to be out of action for four weeks.

Jody Shelley will have surgery on Thursday, March 24 to repair a broken orbital bone on the left side of his face,” said Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren. “The surgery will be performed by Dr. Guy Lanzi. Jody will be able to return in four weeks.”

The timeline for Shelley’s return places him in the middle of the Flyers’ first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Shelley has four points (2G-2A) in 58 games with the Flyers this season and ranks second on the team with 127 penalty minutes.
