Philadelphia Flyer Mike Richards, as well as Philadelphia Phantoms Riley Cote, Scott Munroe and Pete Zingoni on Tuesday assisted volunteers at MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) in preparing Thanksgiving dinner for individuals and families at nutritional risk due to life-threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
After preparing the meal, the players personally delivered the food to a local family so they can celebrate Thanksgiving a few days early.
MANNA delivers care and hope by nourishing people at acute nutritional risk due to a life threatening illness. A small professional staff and 1,000 dedicated volunteers bring over 40,000 nutritious, freshly-prepared meals each month into the homes of these individuals and families. MANNA nutritionists provide one-on-one, nutritional counseling in dozens of clinics throughout the Delaware Valley. All of MANNA's services are free of charge throughout 11 counties of the tri-state region.
