As the 2015 Highlight of the Year tournament rolls on, Flyers fans have chosen to advance Rob Zepp’s skate save on Jets’ Mark Scheifele to the semifinal round, where it will now meet Steve Mason’s save on Pens’ forward Craig Adams.
Going up against a highlight from the same game, Zepp’s save in his NHL debut earned more than 70 percent of the votes over Jakub Voracek’s overtime game-winner in their come from behind victory at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on Dec. 21.
Zepp’s save in the final minute of the second period gave the Flyers a fighting chance heading into intermission with a two-goal deficit, instead of a 4-1 Jets lead. The victory made him the oldest goaltender to win his NHL debut in 88 years (1926 - Hugh Lehman, 41 yrs-old).
