RESULTS: Mason's Spectacular Save Advances

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

In the closest vote of the tournament, Steve Mason’s save on Pens’ forward Craig Adams edged out Rob Zepp’s skate save on Scheifele in the semifinal round of the 2015 Highlight of the Year Tournament.

The match up saw over 1,200 votes cast during the week-long vote and Mason earned nearly 700 votes in the process to take home 53 percent of the total. He has earned victories over Pierre-Edouard Bellemare’s first NHL fight and now Zepp to get to the Finals.

The highlight was one of 46 saves on the afternoon, which came by way of a turnover in the Flyers end that led to a quick shot on net. The rebound came right on the stick of Adams, who was denied an open-net goal by Mason who lunged across to make a diving glove save.

Having advanced to the Finals, he will now take on the winner of Claude Giroux (last year’s Highlight winner - WATCH HERE) and Michael Del Zotto.

Voting begins on Monday, but for now have another look at Mason’s spectacular save…
