RESULTS: Ghost's OT-winner Advances

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

This week’s fan vote picked up momentum with the quarterfinals surpassing last week’s wild card round. With nearly 400 votes cast his way, Shayne Gostisbehere’s OT-winner in Toronto becomes the first highlight chosen by fans to advance to the semifinals.

The result means there will be a new champion this year, as last year’s winner, Steve Mason and his game-changing save against the Bruins was eliminated.

The play unfolded less than 30 seconds into the 3-on-3 overtime and two great plays from Jakub Voracek, who spinned away from Toronto center Peter Holland and broke free up the ice to draw in both the defenseman, Morgan Rielly, and forward Nazem Kadri leaving a cutting Gostisbehere all alone on the left wing.

Voracek’s backhand pass threaded the needle and Gostisbehere one-timed the winner just out of reach of James Reimer for the victory.

Before we get to today’s second quarterfinal matchup, lets take another look at Ghost’s winner below…
