Philadelphia, PA – October 2, 2012 – Competitive and amateur runners dressed in their most creative costumes are encouraged to participate in the inaugural Flyers Charities Halloween 5K Fun Run and Walk presented by Toyota at XFINITY Live! Philadelphia on Saturday, October 27, beginning at 9 a.m.
Proceeds from the race benefit Philadelphia Flyers Charities, a division of Comcast-Spectacor Charities, to help support local non-profit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
Registration is $35 to participate in the 5K and $25 to participate in the Fun Run & Walk. All participants will receive a race bib (including timing chips for 5k runners only) and commemorative T-shirt.
Participants are encouraged to wear creative Halloween costumes and Flyers gear (of course!) during the race. Prizes will be awarded to race participants to the top male and female runners in the 5K, along with prizes for best costumes within different age groups.
The event will also feature a family fun area that will include interactive inflatables, face painters, pumpkin painting and trick-or-treating.

9:00 a.m. 5K Run begins
9:45 a.m. Fun Run & Walk begins
11:15 a.m. Costume contest

The Halloween theme continues throughout the day at XFINITY Live! Philadelphia with a kids Halloween movie to be shown on the outdoor screen immediately following the race along with specially priced menu items throughout the day for kids and race participants. That evening, the biggest Halloween party on the East Coast takes over with WMMR DJ Jackie Bam Bam and over $20,000 in cash and prizes to winners of the evening’s costume contest.
