by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

INJURY UPDATE: Jan. 3

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren updated the status of three injured players.

Matt Read: upper-body injury, game time decision tomorrow
Michael Raffl: concussion, out tomorrow and will be evaluated by our doctors when team returns
Erik Gustafsson: remains out with lower body injury. We expect Erik back in 7-10 days

Jan. 2:
Following the first period, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that left wing Michael Raffl would not return due to a concussion.

Raffl suffered the injury midway through the first period after appearing in just eight shifts for a total of 4:27 of ice time.

Raffl has 11 points (2g-9a) in 28 games for the Flyers this season, his first in the NHL. Recently, he had been playing on the club's top line with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.

He became the first Flyer to be officially named to an Olympic team when he was announced as part of the roster for Austria. Raffl had a goal in five games for Austria at last year’s World Championships.
