Mike Knuble –
Knuble’s return in Game 3 against the Canadiens sparked the Flyers. He’s a force in front of the opposing team’s net, both on the power play at and even strength. He plays all the hard minutes and leads by example.
Braydon Coburn –
His best stat is the plus-5 he’s registered while playing against the best offensive players Washington and Montreal had. He’ll need to continue that strong play against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Martin Biron –
The Philadelphia goalie has been his team’s best player so far in the playoffs. He’s playing sound positionally, his confidence level never has been higher and he’s the first name mentioned among early Conn Smythe favorites.
Sidney Crosby – Crosby didn’t score any goals in the Penguins’ five-game semifinal win against the Rangers, but the 2007 League MVP always gets up to play the cross-state rival Flyers. He had two goals and seven points in four games against them this season.Marc-Andre Fleury –
The Flyers were out-shot in their semifinal against Montreal, but they took advantage of their opportunities. Fleury will have to stay sharp during stretches where he might not see a lot of rubber.Jarkko Ruutu –
The Penguins’ uber-pest likely will be matched up with Danny Briere
, the Flyers’ leading playoff scorer. Ruutu spent most of the last series in the ear of the Rangers’ Jaromir Jagr
; Briere might be best-served investing in ear plugs.
