The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired the rights to forward Massimo Rizzo and Carolina's own fifth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft in exchange for the rights to forward David Kase, according to General Manager Daniel Briere.

Rizzo, 22 (6/13/01), recorded 46 points (17-29=46) in 38 games with the University of Denver of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) during the 2022-23 season. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound native of Burnaby, British Columbia, led the NCHC and ranked 11th nationally in scoring. He registered a career-high 11-game point streak from Nov. 26-Jan. 14 (6-8=14) and a five-game multi-point streak from Oct. 21-Nov. 4 (4-9=13). The left-shot center was named to the West Second-Team, All-NCHC First Team, a finalist for NCHC Forward of the Year and was named NCHC Forward of the Week twice (Jan. 9 and Feb. 13). Rizzo ranked T-4th in points (36), T-5th in assists (24) and T-9th in goals (12) among Division I freshmen during the 2021-22 season and helped the Pioneers capture their ninth NCAA National Championship. He was selected by the Hurricanes in the seventh round (216th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Kase was originally selected by Philadelphia in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut with the Flyers on Dec. 11, 2019 at Colorado.
