Following practice this morning at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, GM Ron Hextall announced that defenseman Michael Del Zotto will be out 4-5 weeks with a lower body injury.
Del Zotto played in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Rangers at MSG where he logged over 16 minutes of ice time (16:34) on 20 shifts. He appeared in five preseason games in total, where he posted one assist, and averaged nearly 21 minutes of TOI (20:48).
Entering his third season with the Flyers, he recorded 13 points (4g-9a) and averaged over 23 minutes of ice time per game in 52 contests last year, but his season was cut short after he missed the final 28 games due to a wrist injury.
Del Zotto now joins defenseman Brandon Manning, who is week-to-week with an upper-body injury, and forward Scott Laughton who is out 3-4 weeks with a lower-body injury on the sideline this preseason.
The Flyers wrap up their preseason slate on Saturday when they face off against the Bruins in Boston at 5 p.m. (NHL Network, 97.5 The Fanatic).
