Following warmups, Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced to the media that forward Taylor Leier will not be in the lineup vs. Edmonton Oilers in their Saturday matinee at the Wells Fargo Center.
Leier has an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day. He missed practice on Friday with a maintenance day.
Leier has appeared in all seven games for the Flyers, recording one assist and seven shots on goal while averaging 11:57 of ice time playing on a line with Scott Laughton at center and Michael Raffl on the other side.
As a result, Matt Read will be in the lineup and will see his first action with the Flyers this season. He is expected to slot in Leier's position with Laughton and Raffl. Read appeared in five games, recording one goal and a plus-1 rating with seven shots, with the Phantoms.
Also making his second straight appearance is forward Jori Lehtera, who is in for Jordan Weal, who also is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
During Flyers training camp, Read played in four preseason games for the Flyers, recording four shots on goal.
