by @NHLFlyers

Five minutes into the third period, Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced that defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere suffered an upper-body injury and would not return to the game against the Maple Leafs at Toronto.

Gostisbehere appeared in the first two periods, logging 14:20 of ice time, recording one assist and three shots on goal. His assist came on the third Flyers goal, on the power play, by Valtteri Filppula.

The assist was also his 12th assist of the season, which not only leads all NHL defensemen, but at the time, is currently tied for third among all NHL skaters. Overall, Gostisbehere leads all defensemen in scoring with 13 points (1g-12a) through 11 games so far this season.

Prior to tonight's game, Gostisbehere also ranks second on the team in average time-on-ice per-game at nearly 22 minutes (21:49).
