McCrossin Updates Injured Flyers

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
(Pittsburgh, PA, November 13) - Flyers Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach Jim McCrossin on Monday updated the status of Peter Forsberg, Denis Gauthier and Jeff Carter. Below is a transcript of the conversation with McCrossin.

"Peter Forsberg is in Cleveland right now being evaluated by Dr. Brian Donley. I touched base with Peter and I know that they have completed making a special set of orthotics and a brace for Peter, and he was going out on the ice to test it out. Peter and Dr. Donley were going to follow up with me right after he got done skating. I expect Peter's phone call any time."

On Forsberg's brace:
"It's something completely different and is something that will keep his foot from rolling in the skate boot. Peter was very optimistic about going out on the ice and he said it fit very well off the ice. Obviously, the big test is on the ice."

On Denis Gauthier:
"Denis Gauthier is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow at Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia. The surgery is going to be performed by Dr. Peter DeLuca. We would expect Denis to be out about 10 weeks."

On Jeff Carter:
"Jeff Carter is continuing with his conditioning and is scheduled for another CT-scan follow up next Monday. He will see Dr. Keith Wapner at the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday the 21st."
