McCrossin Updates Forsberg's Injury

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
(Sunrise, FL, October 20, 2006) - Flyers Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach Jim McCrossin updated the injury to team captain Peter Forsberg on Friday afternoon from South Florida. Forsberg left Thursday night's game in Tampa Bay in the first period with a sprained left wrist and did not return.

Jim McCrossin: "Peter had an MRI today on his left wrist at Orlando Regional Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Thomas Graham, an orthopedic hand specialist. The MRI revealed that Peter has a sprained left wrist and a contusion of the wrist. Peter will not be playing tonight but should be able to rejoin the team sometime early next week.

"We are currently on our way to meet the team for tonight's game and will be flying back to Philadelphia with the team after the game tonight. We were fortunate enough that Dr. Graham was actually in Orlando. The team doctor for the Tampa Bay Lightning recommended that we see a hand specialist. We called Dr. Graham who as luck would have it, was in Orlando at the time. So, we rented a car and drove to Orlando last night where Dr. Graham evaluated Peter this morning. We stayed overnight in Orlando, went to the hospital this morning to get the MRI done and had the diagnosis confirmed.

"We are very fortunate that the injury is what it is. Right now Peter is in a wrist splint to help the wrist relax and heal better."
