The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have reassigned defenseman Lasse Kukkonen to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, for a 14-day conditioning assignment.
Kukkonen, 27, has two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Flyers this season. In 94 career games with Philadelphia, the Oulu, Finland native has one goal and six assists for seven points and 56 penalty minutes. In 158 career NHL games over five seasons with the Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks, Kukkonen has six goals and 16 assists for 22 points and 90 penalty minutes.
Kukkonen was acquired by the Flyers, along with a third round draft pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, from Chicago in exchange for Kyle Calder on February 26, 2007. He was Chicago’s fifth round choice (151st overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
