Knuble Rings In Support For American Heart Association's Go Red For Women Campaign

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

(February 2) - Philadelphia Flyers right wing Mike Knuble has teamed up with the American Heart Association to kick off their Go Red For Women Campaign by ringing the opening bell at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. The national campaign for Go Red For Women, which begins on February 2, aims to raise awareness that heart disease is the number-one killer of women.

Knuble's interest in cardiovascular disease stems from a personal experience. His father, Aivars, died of a heart attack at the age of 45 in 1987 when Mike was a sophomore in high school.

In honor of February as Heart Awareness Month, the Flyers and the American Heart Association are raising awareness and funds for the Go Red For Women campaign at their game on Thursday, February vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m. at the Wachovia Center. A portion of the proceeds from tickets sold through the Flyers sales office will be donated to the cause. Tickets can be purchased by calling (215) 952-7347.
