Flyers defenseman Randy Jones issued the following statement after the Flyers-Boston Bruins game on Saturday at the TD Banknorth Garden. Jones was issued a boarding major and game misconduct after hitting Boston’s Patrice Bergeron, who had to be taken off of the ice in a stretcher in the first period of the game. Bergeron suffered a concussion and a broken nose.
"I am definitely relieved. I was pretty shaken up and was extremely concerned about him. As the game went on I really couldnt focus on it. My mind and heart was totally with him. Thankfully nothing was life-threatening but hopefully everything is going to work out for him."
In 10 games this season, Jones has one goal and five assists for six points and 21 penalty minutes. He entered Saturday’s game tied for a team-high +8 rating.
