With training camp less than a week away, Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced injury news regarding defenseman Andrew MacDonald.
"Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrew MacDonald sustained a lower body injury during an off-season workout and will be sidelined approximately six weeks."
MacDonald enters his 11th season in the NHL and sixth with the Flyers.
Last season, he recorded an average of 19:51 of ice time, which was fifth-most on the team and third among defensemen, and posted six goals and 15 assists for 21 points. He also had 30 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of +8. Prior to the season, he was named an alternate captain by his teammates.
Flyers Training Camp will kick off on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Virtua Center Flyers Skatezone with two days of on-ice sessions at 9:15 AM and 12:15 PM both Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th, with the camp divided into two groups. Flyers Rookie Camp begins on Monday, Sept. 10. Both camps are free and open to the public to attend.
